Guidelines for Students, Faculty & Staff During the Republican National Convention
The 2004 Republican National Convention is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 30, through Thursday, Sept. 2, at New York City’s Madison Square Garden, near Penn Station in midtown Manhattan. The convention coincides with move-in days for Barnard first-year and transfer students, so Barnard will remain open throughout the entire convention.
While Barnard is located more than four miles from the convention site, travel within the city and to and from campus may be affected by the influx of visitors, increased traffic and security provisions related to the convention.
To assist you in navigating the city during convention week, we have posted links on this web page to the most current information available about convention-related changes in traffic regulations, public transportation and security arrangements. Faculty and staff are asked to take some time to familiarize themselves with service changes that may affect their commutes to work.
