WTC Relief Run/Walk to Take Place October 13

York, NY, September 19, 2002Barnards second
annual World
Trade Center Relief Run/Walk will take place on Sunday,
October 13, in Riverside Park. The event, which is sponsored
by the Physical Education Department,
raises funds for children affected by the attacks of 9/11.
Participants are asked to pay a $5 entry fee plus any donation
they choose and they are also encouraged to solicit sponsorships
from co-workers, friends, family, fellow students, and anyone
else who may not be able to participate. All donations are
tax deductible. Checks can be made directly payable to Barnard
College or a designated fund from the American
Liberty Partnership.
The entry deadline is Thursday, October 10. All applications
and donations may be dropped off at the Physical Education
Office room 206 of Barnard Hall or may be mailed by Tuesday,
October 1, to Barnard College Physical Education Office,
3001 Broadway, 206 Barnard Hall, New York, NY 10027
.
On October 13, all participants must check in at the Barnard
front gates (117th Street and Broadway) by 9:30 a.m. Runners
will compete in a 5K race through Riverside Park and walkers
may join friends and family for a 3K stroll. As this years
run comes on the heels of Family
Weekend, it is hoped that many Barnard students
family members may be able to participate. Runners and walkers
will start and finish at the front gates. The top finishers
in the run will receive awards.
