Barnard’s WTC Relief Run/Walk to Take Place October 13

New York, NY, September 19, 2002—Barnard’s second annual World Trade Center Relief Run/Walk will take place on Sunday, October 13, in Riverside Park. The event, which is sponsored by the Physical Education Department, raises funds for children affected by the attacks of 9/11. Participants are asked to pay a $5 entry fee plus any donation they choose and they are also encouraged to solicit sponsorships from co-workers, friends, family, fellow students, and anyone else who may not be able to participate. All donations are tax deductible. Checks can be made directly payable to Barnard College or a designated fund from the American Liberty Partnership.

The entry deadline is Thursday, October 10. All applications and donations may be dropped off at the Physical Education Office room 206 of Barnard Hall or may be mailed by Tuesday, October 1, to Barnard College Physical Education Office, 3001 Broadway, 206 Barnard Hall, New York, NY 10027
.
On October 13, all participants must check in at the Barnard front gates (117th Street and Broadway) by 9:30 a.m. Runners will compete in a 5K race through Riverside Park and walkers may join friends and family for a 3K stroll. As this year’s run comes on the heels of Family Weekend, it is hoped that many Barnard students’ family members may be able to participate. Runners and walkers will start and finish at the front gates. The top finishers in the run will receive awards.
