President Judith Shapiro Speaks About Shared Culture and
Cultural Differences at Higher Education Symposium
President
Judith Shapiro recently spoke about the experience of shared
culture and cultural differences and their meaning for higher
education. Speaking at the forum for the Future of Higher
Education at the 2002 Aspen Symposium, Shapiro discussed
the importance in a liberal arts curriculum of finding the
right way to combine the benefits of a shared culture with
the necessity of preparing students to travel across cultural
boundaries. She delivered the Hewlett Lecture at the Aspen
Institute on Sept. 30. The Aspen Institute is a global
forum that brings together leaders and policy makers to
address the foremost challenges of the new century. Click
