salutes New
Yorkers whose accomplishments deserve to be highlighted.
The 2006 WESTY Awards (for "West
Side Spirit Thanks You") were presented on Wednesday,
October 25. Barnard's Dean Dorothy Denburg
'70 was among the awardees. Dean Denburg was honored for her dual
commitment to
New York City and Barnard College.
During her tenure as dean, Denburg's goal has been
to
further involve Barnard with the community. "The College has seen its
identity as intertwined with the city for most of its history," Denburg
said. "Back when I was a student in
the '60s, the College catalog said the city was the College's
laboratory."
