Barnard College Welcomes the
Leading Women Entrepreneurs of the World for One-Day Conference

November 2, 2006— President Judith Shapiro welcomed the Leading Women Entrepreneurs of the World's Business Forum to Barnard College. The opening remarks and slide show of V. Cheryl Womack, the Chairperson of Leading Women Entrepreneurs of the World, were followed by a panel discussion which was hosted by President Shapiro.

The panel featured a diverse collection of women from the organization including Catherine Sofianou of SofMedica from Greece, Georgiana Poganaru of ROMCOLOR 2000 S.A from Romania., Maxine Burton of burton + BURTON from the USA, and Dianne Laurance of Laurance Wine Pty Ltd and The Pivot Group from Australia .

The panel discussion included advice on how to become an entrepreneur and how to balance a successful career with family life. The women also discussed the importance of community involvement and the unique contributions of women to the global economy. The panel discussion preceded a question and answer session between the panel and the audience. This was followed by a luncheon and a break out session during which the members of the audience were able to ask one-on-one questions to the panelists. The Business Forum later ended with a brief reception.
