Freedom Days at Minor Latham Playhouse, November 17-19

FREEDOM DAYS, a play about the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s, based on true stories from those who took part, will be presented at Minor Latham Playhouse from November 17 -19. Written by Steve Friedman, the play premiered Off-Broadway in 1984, the 20th anniversary of Freedom Summer, and ran for two years, first in New York City and then throughout the country on several tours. It was performed extensively in Mississippi and Alabama under the sponsorship of the Center for Constitutional Rights.

In the 20 years since, FREEDOM DAYS has continued to be performed by school and community theaters, mostly in the deep south. FREEDOM DAYS consists of four short plays, each in a different style, performed by the same small cast, and woven together with live a cappella music of the era. It will be directed by Denny Partridge.
