Zine Reading, 11/17, 6:30pm

Five Barnard and Columbia students and alumnae will read from their zines on Thursday, November 17 at 6:30pm. The reading will be held in the teaching alcove on the 2nd floor of the Barnard Library.

The readers are-
Heather Otrando, Columbia '04: glory-of-the-snow
Katie Tobin, Barnard: Qzine
Marissa Edelman, Barnard '08: Love and Spies
Megan Gendell, Columbia '03: Clark 8, Full Tilt, Trabant
Suneela Mubayi, Columbia '07: From Suneel(a) with a Touch of Zaz

All are welcome. A reception with light refreshments will follow the reading.

A "zine," short for fanzine or magazine, is a self-publication motivated by the desire for self-expression, rather than profit. Barnard's zines are primarily in the area of
women's studies, featuring personal and political publications on activism, anarchism, body image, feminism, gender, menstruation, parenting, queer community, sexual assault, and other topics. They are created by women of color and NYC and other urban women. The term "woman" applies to anyone who self-identifies as such. We are among the first academic libraries to begin collecting them.
