16,000
Teddy Bears: Toy Drive Dec. 3 - 8
While
you do your holiday shopping, please remember
the children directly affected by the tragic
events of September 11th. Since that horrible
day, everyone has constantly asked, "What
can I do to help?" and been answered with
a helpless shrug or an, "I wish I could
tell you what to do..." Now there is a
solution: SGA is organizing "16,000 Teddy
Bears," a Holiday Toy Drive, on Monday
December 3rd and Tuesday December 4th to benefit
some 16,000 children who lost one or both parents
in the terrorist attacks. Please donate a new,
unwrapped toy in Upper Level McIntosh on these
days from 9am -5pm and receive a $5 coupon to
campus dining facilities, courtesy of Dining
Services.
If you miss the collection on these days, don't
worry: you can also drop off your gift in boxes
by the front desks of the Residence Halls from
Wednesday December 5th - Saturday, December
8th. We will be delivering the toys that we
collect to St. Francis of Assisi Church and
Ladder 24 on Sunday, December 9th. The wonderful
firemen and people at the parish will be distributing
the toys to all the appropriate families on
December 17th. Let's come together as a community
to show the children that we still care and
remember them and their lost loved ones this
holiday season. If you have any questions, don't
hesitate to call SGA x42126 or Jennifer x32821.

It is the great pleasure of the board of the
Blue Key Society of Columbia University to cordially
invite you and the members of your family to
the annual Yule log ceremony, one of the longest-running
Columbia traditions. During the Yule Log ceremony,
the passing of the seasons is marked by the
reading of the classic poem, "The Night
Before Christmas," and the famous editorial
on the true spirit of Christmas, "Yes,
Virginia, There Is A Santa Claus," and
by the lighting of the Yule Log. The Yule Log
Ceremony will be held on Thursday, December
6, at 7:00pm, in the John Jay Lounge.
In addition to the Yule Log Ceremony on December
6, Columbia College Student Council will be
holding the Tree Lighting Ceremony at 5:30pm
on College walk. We very much hope you can attend
both events with your family.
