HOLIDAY CONCERT DECEMBER 9-10 FEATURES TWO BARNARD SOLOISTS

This Friday and Saturday evening, December 9 and 10, 2005 (8:00 - 9:30 p.m.), mark the Annual Candlelight Concerts by the Barnard-Columbia Chorus and Chamber Choir.   Conducted by Gail Archer, Director of Barnard College's Music Program, vocal soloists include two current Barnard students, Lauren Alfano ' 07 and Dana Everit ' 08.

With music by the Manhattan School of Music Orchestra, the concerts will feature the Barnard-Columbia Chorus singing the Gloria from the Coronation Mass by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Rejoice in the Lamb by Benjamin Britten, and Dixit Dominus by George Frideric Handel.   The women's Chamber Choir will sing a set of 16th century Italian lauda , a set of English madrigals, and Psalm 150 by Benjamin Britten.   Archer herself will play the opening prelude by Dieterich Buxtehude and closing postlude by Johann Sebastian Bach on the organ.

The Annual Candlelight Concerts will take place at St. Paul's Chapel at Columbia University, located at West 117 th Street and Amsterdam Avenue (take the No. 1 Broadway Local train to 116th Street and Broadway, the Columbia University stop).
