Campus Group Organizes Voter Registration

New York, N.Y., September 22, 2000-Barnard's Student Government Association and the Office of the General Counsel have organized a voter registration drive, setting up information and registration tables around campus since the school year began.

In the next two weeks, SGA will step up its efforts by distributing pamphlets that detail the platforms of presidential and senatorial candidates.

Rebecca Cole, Vice President of SGA is excited by the response so far. "Our goals are to increase student awareness about the candidates and to encourage as many students to vote as possible," she said. "So far, it has been a huge success!"

While an exact count of the number of students who have registered through the program is not available, Cole noted that more than 200 students have obtained registration forms.

Students may register to vote in New York or by absentee ballot by going to www.naicu.edu.
