Since 1970, Barnard College has partnered with New York State's Arthur O. Eve Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP) to provide academic support for students from underserved communities statewide. Thanks to the program, many bright young women have not only excelled at Barnard, but have also gone on to launch successful careers worldwide. To date, HEOP has served more than 500 Barnard students, as well as over 30,000 students at 53 other colleges and universities in New York.
On October 27, Barnard College hosted a celebration recognizing the legacy of the state-funded enrichment program. New York City's First Deputy Comptroller Eric V. Eve accepted a plaque on behalf of his father, HEOP founder Arthur O. Eve. Assemblyman Keith Wright also attended.
