The 2013 Scholar & Feminist conference hosted by the Barnard Center for Research on Women (BCRW) drew hundreds of participants who gathered to explore this year's theme—Utopias. The conference featured academics, activists, artists, and performers imagining feminist visions for the future and brainstorming strategies for bringing about better environments.
Among the many topics participants discussed were ways to educate children and adults that focus on creativity and curiosity; keeping the general population safe without prisons; and developing affordable housing options.
