Records that have historical, administrative, or research value to Barnard College are kept indefinitely by the Archives. The Archives works with individual offices and departments to arrange for the transfer of appropriate records (in both paper/analog and digital formats) to the Archives.
For more guidance on records retention, please see the Purchasing Department's policy. For more information on how long different types of records should be retained, please see Purchasing's retention schedule.
The staff of the Archives can also help you with evaluating and adopting filing systems, maintaining adequate conditions for preservation, selecting preservation formats for digital materials, and planning for digitization projects for your office records. Please contact us for assistance.
