Weather Update

Due to the storm, Barnard College closed at 4pm Friday, for non-essential personnel. “Essential personnel" include staff in Facilities, Public Safety and Residence Halls.  

Friday evening and weekend classes are cancelled but events are going forward as planned unless otherwise noted. The Athena Film Festival programs are also scheduled to go forward as planned but please check http://athenafilmfestival.com/ for the latest information. 

The Barnard Library and Archives closed at 4pm Friday and will remain closed on Saturday, Feb. 9.  The Library will resume regular hours on Sunday opening at 10am.  

Please be advised that due to the conditions, certain entrances to campus may be closed.  The main gate at 117th Street & Broadway will remain open.  For further updates on college operations, please check this website, call the College Emergency Information Line 212-854-1002 or check AM radio station 1010WINS.

Constellation Octans

Octans - “The Octant”; meaning: octant [navigational instrument]; symbol: octant; pronounced “OCK-tens”

The Octans constellation is made up of students from the 5th Floor.

Constellation Leader: Caroline Lange, BC 2015

Caroline Lange is a rising sophomore who hails from Windsor, CT, with plans to double major in English with a writing concentration in Women's and Gender Studies. On campus, Caroline keeps busy by copy editing for the Columbia Spectator's blog, Spectrum; she also swing dances with CU Swing, is a proud member of Q (Barnard's LGBTQ group), and is a coordinator of the Morningside Heights CSA. Next year, she is also excited to begin working both as a Writing Fellow and as a Well Woman peer educator. Caroline is especially passionate about the local food movement, and in her free time, likes to visit the city's many greenmarkets and to cook up a storm with her friends.
