Weather Update
Due to the storm, Barnard College closed at 4pm Friday, for non-essential personnel. “Essential personnel" include staff in Facilities, Public Safety and Residence Halls.
Friday evening and weekend classes are cancelled but events are going forward as planned unless otherwise noted. The Athena Film Festival programs are also scheduled to go forward as planned but please check http://athenafilmfestival.com/ for the latest information.
The Barnard Library and Archives closed at 4pm Friday and will remain closed on Saturday, Feb. 9. The Library will resume regular hours on Sunday opening at 10am.
Please be advised that due to the conditions, certain entrances to campus may be closed. The main gate at 117th Street & Broadway will remain open. Mission Statement
The mission of the Junior Jumpstart program is to advance industry specific knowledge and professional skill of Barnard sophomores and juniors through exposure to industry experts; lecture-based training; professional resources and networking. Consistent with Barnard Career Development’s approach of “learning by doing”, the Junior Jumpstart program focuses on the practical application of real-world examples. Our goal is to put the fundamentals of each of the professions at your fingertips.
Goals & Objectives
The Junior Jumpstart program offers Barnard sophomores and juniors the opportunity to gain relevant, professional skill sets. Additionally, students gain the confidence necessary to effectively work in three major industry areas:
- Advertising, Public Relations and Marketing
- Arts Administration
- Consulting
- Fashion Retail
- Finance
- Science, Technology, Engineering & Math
Participants in the Junior Jumpstart program will learn practical strategies and an understanding of the core proficiencies and expertise necessary to enter the targeted industry. Further, career development support is provided in the areas of resume and cover letter writing, professional attire, interviewing and networking.
The Junior Jumpstart program offers comprehensive, industry specific professional development and instruction designed to propel Barnard student’s successful entry into a chosen career track.
