LEADING FROM THE BENCH Judith S. Kaye ’58 is the first woman to lead the judicial branch of the State of New York, which encompasses more than 1,200 judges in 363 courthouses across the state. Her tenure as Chief Judge has been marked by unprecedented reform and cutting-edge progress: she has, among her many accomplishments, created “model” courts for drug and domestic violence, opened new family courts and innovated existing family-court programs, and entirely revamped the jury system. Join Barnard President Debora Spar as she leads an evening of conversation with Judge Kaye on the topics of leadership, justice, child welfare reform, challenges for women in the law, and building a successful and groundbreaking career. Anna Quindlen ‘74, Chair of the Barnard Board of Trustees and Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, to provide introductory remarks.
