What is the Queer Peers & Allies Program?
Queer Peers & Allies is a joint program of Barnard and Columbia/SEAS's multicultural affairs offices that seeks to support the campus queer community through a staffed lounge for queer and allied students, an online community of support and advice, and structured opportunities to engage within the queer community.  Queer Peers & Allies advisors (QPAs) will undergo rigorous and continual training on topics ranging from identity development, the coming-out process, basic counseling and listening skills, campus resources, and health and safety concerns.

Expectations of Queer Peers & Allies Advisors:

  1. Attend 11/11/07 Training Session (12noon - 5pm)
  2. Attend two additional evening trainings in the Fall semester.
  3. Participate in training / supervision sessions every two weeks throughout the Spring.
  4. Devote at least 2 hours per week to staffing the David Bohnett Foundation Cybercenter in the Stephen Donaldson Lounge in Furnald Hall.
