How to Find a Job (While You're In School)

Whether you are looking for a part-time or full-time job, work study or off-campus job, Career Development is here to help.

1) eRecruiting: All of the job postings and internships Career Development receives are placed in eRecruiting, our job database and event calendar. Check it frequently, as we receive new opportunities every day. If you have never logged in, your username is your full Barnard e-mail address; your password is your Student ID number, which can be found on eBear.

2) Student Employment : Need a little more help locating a great on- or off-campus job? Read more about our Student Employment Program, and keep on the look out for new job postings in eRecruiting.

3) Career Counseling: Career Development is here to help! Call our front desk at 212-854-2033 to make a one-on-one career counseling appointment.

4) Online Career Resources: Career Development maintains an extensive listing of career-related online resources. Take a look at this list to find other job search sites related to your area of interest, links to professional associations and career-related events.

 

Senior Year, or How Do I Get Ready for Graduation?


1) BEST Senior Year:  Career Development's BEST (Barnard Experience for Seniors in Transition) Program is for all seniors. The main components of the BEST program are orientations, workshops, information sessions, scheduled interview opportunities both on and off campus, job listings, and resources for research about career fields and specific employers. 2) Senior Initiative:  The spring of your senior year you can take part in the Senior Initiative, an intensive program designed to prepare you for life after graduation, which includes networking and interview workshops, faux interviewing, working one-on-one with a career counselor and more. Stay tuned for updates at the beginning of the spring semester.

3) Barnard Alumnae Network: The fall of your senior year you can get access to the Barnard Alumnae Network; one you attend a Networking Workshop at Career Development, you will be granted access to the database. Watch your e-mail and check eRecruiting for workshop dates, or e-mail ocd@barnard.edu if the workshops have already passed.
