PRINTED ON OFFICE OF DISABILITY SERVICES LETTERHEAD

An invitation to Barnard alumnae with disabilities:

We are delighted to invite you to be a part of the BAID Network -- Barnard Alumnae Involved with Disabilities -- and hope that you will want to participate. The Offices of Alumnae Affairs, Career Development and Disability Services have joined together to coordinate this unique mentoring project that enables current Barnard students with disabilities to meet and/or talk with disabled alumnae from a wide variety of fields. For those of you who have pursued (or are currently pursuing) postgraduate studies, we are also most interested in maintaining a directory of information on disability services and the availability of accommodations in graduate and professional schools and would welcome your input in this area. The Office of Disability Services continues to serve students in four major disability categories (mobility, visual and hearing impairments; and invisible disabilities such as chronic medical conditions, learning disabilities/ADD, psychiatric disabilities, and substance abuse/recovery) and we would like to have all alumnae become part of the BAID network.

Time commitments can of course be flexible depending on your schedule and availability. The enclosed form will enable you to specify the kinds of help you'd be willing to provide -- from a simple phone or email contact to sponsorship of an intern or observational experience at your worksite. If you have any questions or would like more information, please call Susan Quinby at 212/854-4634 (voice/TTY). We welcome your involvement and look forward to hearing from you!
