III. 5. I'm a high school guidance counselor and would like information
regarding recommendations and options for students with learning
disabilities and some specific insight into Barnard policies.
I would
refer you to the Manual and Forms link on our website.
Of particular interest would be Barnard College Policy on the
Admission of Students with Learning Disabilities and
Ten
Quick Ways to Provide Equal Access in Admissions. Also
familiarize yourself with the regulations of Sections 504 and the
ADA.
In
addition, become
acquainted with what testing will be required in order to qualify for
services. Refer to
Documentation of a Learning
Disability/ Attention Deficit Disorder.
Also,
please visit ODS FAQ #2, which includes the
tip sheet "Eleven Suggestions regarding postsecondary options for
high school students with learning disabilities."
Useful
resource: Learning
Outside the Lines, by Jonathan Mooney and David Cole. Simon and
Schuster, 2000.

- What
additional resources are available to LD students at Barnard?
-
I know that ODS has an Early Self-Identification Policy, but shouldn't I wait until after

Help! Half of

before finals. What should I do?
- I've just
been accepted to Barnard, and I have a learning disability.
