Services we provide
- Administrative/academic advocacy and counseling
- Accommodative aide program in which volunteer/paid
students serve in a variety of capacities, such as readers, notetakers and tutors
- Check-in meetings with professors and students about
disability-related classroom and test accommodations
- Specialized aids and equipment: wheelchairs, tape
recorders, large-print/taped books, etc.
- Specialized funding for disability-related needs (see
flyer: Financial Aid Opportunities for Barnard Students with Disabilities)
- Coordination of informal meetings with other Barnard women
with disabilities, including peer support groups
- Sponsorship of on-campus disability-related workshops,
seminars and student forums
- Extensive resource collection of books, pamphlets and
articles on disability-related topics
- Annual Women and Disability Film Festival and extensive
media collection; AIDS video library
- Establishment of a telephone hook-up if a student is
restricted to home or hospital on an extended basis
