What types of assistance are available?

 

·         Administrative/academic assistance and counseling

·         Accommodative aide program in which volunteer/paid students serve in a variety of capacities, including notetakers, readers and tutors

·         Specialized aides and equipment: wheelchairs, walkers, tape recorders, etc.

·         Access to BC/CU/TC assistive technology

·         Campus access maps; keys to various elevators and/or lifts

·         Referral to appropriate disability-related websites

·         Extensive resource collection of books, pamphlets and articles on disability-related topics

 The Student Health Service (SHS) can provide crutches, canes and heating pads on request, plus a small  refundable deposit. Ace bandages and cold packs are available; air casts and braces can be ordered at the student’s own expense.  SHS can also provide medical monitoring and physical therapy or specialist consultation.

 Generally speaking, students with mobility impairments are responsible for their own mobility needs. On a limited case-by-case basis, Security may be available for student transport after 4pm. Contact Security @4/3362 for further info.
