Teachers College
The Office of Access and Services for Individuals with Disabilities (OASID) at Teachers College ensures that programs and services are physically, programmatically, and attitudinally accessible to Teachers College students, faculty, staff, and visitors. OASID offers a variety of accommodation services and resources for those registered with the office. These include but are not limited to:
· Testing accommodations
· Alternative format texts
· Readers
· Adaptive technology
· Special parking permits
· Note takers
· Sign language interpreters
· Communication Access Real-time Translation (CART)
· General research assistants
· Information on students with disabilities in postsecondary education
· Listings of NYC community services
· Advocacy, counseling, and referrals
Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to contact the office to register as a person with a disability. Services are available only to individuals who are registered and have submitted appropriate documentation. Individuals can register for services throughout the semester; however, students are strongly encouraged to review requests for accommodations with the office at the beginning of each semester. Once an individual has registered with the office, he or she collaborates with either the OASID director or the program director of Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services in the development of an Individualized Accommodation Plan. Further information on OASID can be found on the web at www.tc.edu/oasid.
