Ricoh Copier Print Driver Installation for Windows XP Users

Part I: Minimal instructions for basic installation

All the new Ricoh “copiers” at Barnard are truly “multi-function printers” (mfp’s) that copy, print, and scan. We encourage your use of these mfp’s for printing. The quality will be better if you print directly to the Ricoh instead of printing on an inkjet or laserjet and then making copies, since every print is an original. In addition, you gain access to your mfp’s features (such as duplexing, stapling, hole punching, etc.), and the overall operating costs are generally lower than printing to an inkjet or local HP printer.

Using the Web Based Driver Installer (WBDI), we now have a simple way for Barnard faculty and staff to self-install these printers on Windows XP computers. After installing the printer with WBDI, the user must still insert her/his User Code into the driver before it will work.

Click on the link below to download or open an Acrobat file detailing the installation instructions.

Ricoh Install Part 1--required basic installation

After completing the basic printer installation, see Ricoh Install Part 2 for information on configuring your printer for more efficient use with the creation of saved custom settings. See Ricoh Install Part 3 for information on sending faxes from your computer through a Ricoh fax driver.

Disclaimers and technical notes: The WBDI program will work for Windows computers only. We have configured it to install Ricoh pcl drivers that work very well with Windows XP. We have not tested to see if these drivers will work with Vista. Macintosh users should make appointments with a Document Services manager for print driver installation.
