ELIGIBILITY & APPLICATION
PROCEDURES
Admission is selective, and is based on strong high school records, recommendations, and a personal statement. Applications from students whose preparation may vary are welcome, especially if they reveal unusual talents and interests that can be developed further in this program. Applicants must have completed the tenth or eleventh grade of high school by June 2008.
Applications will be accepted from February 1 to May 1, 2008. Applications will be accepted after May 1 on a space-available basis. Early application is advised since programs may fill before the May 1 deadline. All application materials must be received before the admissions process is initiated. Admissions decisions on complete applications will be made beginning March 1, 2008 and continue on a rolling basis.
APPLICATION CHECKLIST
A complete application includes:
- Application form and essay completed by you and signed by a parent or guardian.
- One recommendation form completed by a teacher familiar with your work.
- One recommendation form completed by a counselor or principal.
- An official copy of your high school transcript in English.
- For applicants living in the U.S., a $40 non-refundable application fee payable by credit card, check, or money order made out to Barnard College. For those living outside the U.S., a $65 non-refundable application fee payable by credit card only.
APPLY
The application is an interactive form that you may fill out directly in Adobe Reader (a free download from Adobe).
When the application form is open, your mouse pointer will change to a cursor; use the tab key or your mouse to navigate through the form.
Note: Your final form must be completed in one session. You CANNOT save the text that you typed into the document. We suggest printing out a blank copy of the application, drafting your answers in a word processing program, and then filling out the final form on-line in one session. You may wish to copy and paste your longer answers into the application form.
Print out the completed application and include it in your packet, mailing it to:
