COLLOQUIA

Discussion of readings and development of research skills through completion of a 25- to 35-page research paper, which constitutes the major piece of written work for the course. Admission to each colloquium is limited to sixteen students. Apply through the Barnard Political Science Department Office (417-b Lehman Hall) during the preceding semester’s program-planning period. Students are assigned by the Department and not by individual instructors. Political Science majors must complete two colloquia. (The application form is available on-line as is a more detailed description of this requirement.)

SENIOR RESEARCH SEMINARS

Admission to these two-semester senior research seminars is limited to 12 students. During Spring pre-registration students must apply through the Political Science Department; this applies to off-sequence seminar students also (i.e. Spring-Fall). Only the research seminars POLS BC 3761x-3762y satisfy the senior essay requirement for Barnard Political Science majors.

POLS BC 3761x-3762y   SENIOR RESEARCH SEMINAR
Discussion and conferences on the research and writing of the senior essay on a topic chosen by the student.   4 points per semester.   Two semesters.   Schedule of due dates
Prerequisite: At least one course in the sub-field of the student's essay topic.
