Weather Update

Due to the storm, Barnard College closed at 4pm Friday, for non-essential personnel. “Essential personnel" include staff in Facilities, Public Safety and Residence Halls.  

Friday evening and weekend classes are cancelled but events are going forward as planned unless otherwise noted. The Athena Film Festival programs are also scheduled to go forward as planned but please check http://athenafilmfestival.com/ for the latest information. 

The Barnard Library and Archives closed at 4pm Friday and will remain closed on Saturday, Feb. 9.  The Library will resume regular hours on Sunday opening at 10am.  

Please be advised that due to the conditions, certain entrances to campus may be closed.  The main gate at 117th Street & Broadway will remain open.  For further updates on college operations, please check this website, call the College Emergency Information Line 212-854-1002 or check AM radio station 1010WINS.

Student Schedule

Monday - Friday (Except Wednesday):

Daily Summer in the City Schedule
9:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. Morning Class
12 p.m. - 2 p.m. Lunch and Afternoon Break
— Eat, relax, or catch up on homework.
2 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Afternoon Class

Classes end at 4:30 p.m. and students then have the opportunity to take part in optional on and off-campus activities including Broadway shows, baseball games, dance classes, and so much more!

Wednesday:

On Wednesdays, Summer in the City students participate in the Life after College program. Times vary but excursions usually take place during normal business hours. In addition, students will attend a workshop led by an admissions counselor to discuss an issue realted to the college search and application process. Topics include the college interview, essay, and application.

Examples of some Life after College programs include visits to businesses and corporations such as Elle Girl, Kenneth Cole, MTV Studios and the WNBA to name a few. There have also been visits to hospitals, a homeless shelter, and a court.

Apart from the excursions, Wednesdays are free to relax, catch up on homework, and/or participate in the optional planned activities.

Saturday and Sunday:

On the weekends, students are free to participate in organized activities and/or excursions, explore the city on their own, sleep in late, or catch up on homework.
