Chief academic
officer of 2300 student liberal arts college for women affiliated with
Columbia University. Responsible for faculty of approximately 280 offering
over 40 academic programs, Wollman library and information services (Offices
of Media Services, Academic Technology, and Management Information and Network
Services), and the Center for Research on Women. Major efforts devoted to
renovations of science facilities, institution of new general education
requirements, faculty development particularly in the pre-tenure period, space
planning and campus master plan, faculty housing, health insurance planning,
institutional grants. Currently chair of planning group for the Nexus, a $45
million new building that will include the library, classrooms, food service
and student lounges, and large group meeting rooms. Ex officio member of
Board of Trustee Committees on Educational Policy, Budget and Finance, and
Buildings, Grounds and Environment.

Served during
sabbatical of President Judith Shapiro while continuing duties as Provost and
Dean. Planned and convened two meetings of the Board of Trustees and attended
all Board committee meetings during fall semester. Presided over ceremonial
