Patricia D. Denison
Associate Provost

Patricia Denison was appointed Associate Provost in July 2014.  In this role, she provides leadership responsibility in managing faculty governance, grants, grievances, curriculum, and adjunct hiring.  As faculty liaison to the Provost and Dean of the Faculty, she works closely with the Faculty Governance and Procedures Committee. She serves as Chair of the Committee on Instruction and the Faculty Grants Committee.  She also oversees Academic Program Reviews and serves as the Barnard College Research Integrity Officer.  She manages projects that support faculty development and curricular innovation, helps coordinate academic planning and assessment, and supervises the Provost's Office publications.  She joined the Barnard Department of English in 1990, and as Senior Lecturer in English and Co-Director of Undergraduate Studies, Drama and Theatre Arts, she teaches courses in dramatic literature and theatre studies.  She has served as Acting Director of the First-Year Seminar Program, Interim Chair of the Department of Theatre, member of committees such as Faculty Governance and Procedures, Faculty Advisory Council, Joint Faculty and Administrative Benefits Committee, and is Chair of Faculty Finance and Resources Committee.  She received her Ph.D. from the University of Virginia; has published articles on Victorian drama, modern British drama and American drama; has edited a collection of essays, John Osborne: A Casebook; and is finishing her book: A. W. Pinero in Perspective: Victorian Theatre and Dramatic Modernism.

Leslie Cawley
Director, Academic Budget and Planning

Leslie Cawley is responsible for faculty planning and budgeting for the Academic Affairs Division, working closely with department chairs and directors of academic centers and programs to set priorities and determine each unit’s financial needs. In addition, she works closely with College administrators and faculty members on a range of matters related to faculty affairs. She serves as a resource for information about faculty appointments, grants, leaves and promotions, and oversees the Academic Division finances, including sponsored research and external grants.

Dana Johnson
Manager, Academic Programs and Faculty Support

Dana Johnson oversees the administrative support and related operational services for faculty members and academic departments and programs, a role she assumed in December 2012.  Reporting to the Provost, she is responsible for coordinating faculty review processes, including third year reviews, tenure, internal promotions, and senior off-ladder faculty reappointments. She also supervises the faculty department and program assistants and serves as administrative manager for the Consortium for Critical Interdisciplinary StudiesReacting to the Past Initiative, and other special academic projects as assigned by the Provost. Dana is a Barnard alumna from the Class of 2004.

Larry Picard
Executive Assistant to the Provost
and Office Manager

The executive assistant to the Provost facilitates all communication to and from the Provost’s Office and is the first point of contact for many. He is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day activities of the Provost, which include managing the Provost’s calendar, correspondence, and travel arrangements. He also provides administrative support for the committees and meetings sponsored by the Provost.

Jennifer Williams
Department Assistant

Jennifer Williams is a Department Assistant in the Office of the Provost and Department of Anthropology.  In the Office of the Provost, she provides support for the Academic Program Review (APR) and the Faculty Diversity & Development Committee (FDD). She also assists in organizing Faculty Elections and processing Travel Grants.
