Weather Update
Due to the storm, Barnard College will close at 4pm today, for non-essential personnel. “Essential personnel" include staff in Facilities, Public Safety and Residence Halls.
Friday evening and weekend classes are cancelled but events are going forward as planned unless otherwise noted. The Athena Film Festival programs are also scheduled to go forward as planned but please check http://athenafilmfestival.com/ for the latest information.
Please be advised that due to the conditions, certain entrances to campus may be closed. The main gate at 117th Street & Broadway will remain open. All members of the Barnard faculty are expected to participate in the governance of the College through service on its faculty and College committees. Tripartite committees are composed of faculty members, administrators, and students designated by the Student Government Association.
Elections to fill vacancies on Elective Committees are held every spring.
Voting Membership
The Faculty consists of the President of the College, the Provost/Dean of the Faculty, the Dean of the College, the Dean of Studies, and all Professors, Associate Professors, Assistant Professors, Lecturers, Associates, and full-time Instructors whose appointment is primarily at Barnard College. Visiting appointments generally do not carry with them voting membership in the Faculty. Other administrative officers may be made members of the Faculty by the Board of Trustees upon the recommendation of the Faculty. To be eligible for voting membership in the Faculty, part-time faculty must satisfy one of the following requirements: (1) be teaching a two-thirds program; (2) have taught a two-thirds program or more in the past and be currently teaching in the College; (3) be teaching a one-third program and giving full-time service to the College; (4) have taught a one-third program for three years or more, and be teaching.
