Weather Update
Due to the storm, Barnard College closed at 4pm Friday, for non-essential personnel. “Essential personnel" include staff in Facilities, Public Safety and Residence Halls.
Friday evening and weekend classes are cancelled but events are going forward as planned unless otherwise noted. The Athena Film Festival programs are also scheduled to go forward as planned but please check http://athenafilmfestival.com/ for the latest information.
The Barnard Library and Archives closed at 4pm Friday and will remain closed on Saturday, Feb. 9. The Library will resume regular hours on Sunday opening at 10am.
Please be advised that due to the conditions, certain entrances to campus may be closed. The main gate at 117th Street & Broadway will remain open. Barnard College is committed to creating for its students, faculty, and staff an environment in which the misuse of alcohol and drugs is minimized, which encourages moderation, safety, and individual accountability, and which provides an atmosphere free of coercion and peer pressure to abuse alcohol or use unlawful drugs. Barnard strongly supports educational and treatment programs as the most effective means to help reduce and prevent alcohol and drug abuse. At the same time, the College expressly prohibits the unlawful possession, use, or distribution of drugs and alcohol by students, faculty, or staff members while on College property or while participating in College-sponsored activities or conducting College business off-premises. Members of the College community are responsible for complying with federal, state, and local laws on the possession, use, and sale of alcohol and illicit drugs.
The College's policy on alcohol and drug abuse is published annually in the Barnard Student Handbook and in a memorandum distributed each year to all students, faculty, and staff.
