BUYING A NEW COMPUTER
The College purchases Dell computers for the faculty and staff. You may make arrangements to purchase a computer from other vendors such as Apple and Sun Microsystems.
Through Dell, the college has configured special "standard" desktop systems for college use. You may find these systems on the Academic Technologies website: http://bc.barnard.columbia.edu/~mtucker/BuyPC.htm
If you choose to configure your system yourself, please come to the Purchasing Office and use the kiosk computer to configure your system on Barnard's Dell Premier site . If you configure a computer at any other Dell site, we will not be able to fulfill your exact request.
After you submit the requisition for your new computer, it should arrive in about two weeks. When it arrives, you will be contacted by Central Receiving. You should then make arrangements with Academic Technologies and Central Receiving for delivery, installation and securing of your new system.
