All first-year students who are currently enrolled in either Studies in Writing or First-Year Seminar should plan to enroll in a First-Year English course for the spring semester. Course descriptions― including topics, reading list, and meeting times― will be available starting on Monday, November 10th.

To enroll in First-Year English courses, students must participate in a lottery, which may be accessed through the "New Student" link in eBear. Students should choose their top four courses (based on topic and meeting time), then submit the four choices in order of preference any time between Wednesday, November 12th, at 9:00 a.m. and Sunday, November 16th, at 11:00 p.m. Lottery results will be posted on eBear on Tuesday, November 18th, at 12:00 noon.

Students will not be able to enter First-Year Seminars directly onto their online programs; the courses will be entered by the Registrar’s Office starting Wednesday, November 19th, and an adviser should not approve the program of a first-year student until the appropriate First-Year Foundation course appears on her program.
