Victoria Passarella, Hewitt & Sulzberger Tower
It is an honor to be a member of the Barnard community. My favorite aspect of my position is the direct impact I have on the lives of young women. I am involved with their leadership development, community organizing and programming. The most rewarding experience is watching their growth on a professional and personal level. Everyday I get to be part of a community that values empowering women in order to make an impact on the world at large. As a Graduate Hall Director I see myself as a role model, supervisor, mentor and ally. In addition to working with the students, it is a pleasure to work with my fellow GHDs. We have created an environment where we respect each others experiences and care about our collective wellbeing. |

I enjoy having the opportunity to provide professional guidance and personal advising to a very talented group of Barnard women. I like being able to design tools and develop methods for helping my staff members reach their desired outcomes for their relationships with their residents. In addition to developing my staff, I have appreciated the opportunity to learn from the rest of the professional staff members. |

Vivian Chen, First Year Focus
Hi! My name is Vivian and I am one of the two Graduate Hall Directors in First Year Focus (FYF). Along with my co-GHD, I oversee 19 wonderful RAs. This experience has been incredibly enriching because of the ability to help the RAs and residents develop. Having the opportunity to help these women through their college experience has been amazing. Additionally, the students that I interact with have also had a huge impact on me. I have had the opportunity to grow professionally and personally in my position as a GHD. On a daily basis I am amazed by the compassion and intelligence of the Barnard women. |

Aisha Burrell, First Year Focus
I have learned so much from my fellow GHDs (both new and returning) as well as from the RAs themselves. In my area, I, along with another GHD oversee a staff of 19 wonderful RAs who look after first year students. Thus one of my favorite parts of the job is that my days are never boring since I meet someone new everyday. Another aspect of my job that I love is the staff with whom I work. The GHDs all come from different walks of life and each contribute something new to the Res Life team. |

Candice L. Clawson, Cathedral Gardens
Being a GHD at Barnard has provided me a unique experience to work with some of the brightest young women I have ever encountered. Their love of learning and dedication to excellence is truly inspirational and a pleasure to work with. I came to Barnard after spending two years as a full time hall director and I was welcomed into the Residential Life and Housing Family with open arms. If you have ideas, they are respected and your experience here is valued. I find a lot of applications between my academic studies and my work life which is helpful in a lot of respects. The Barnard RAs are a dedicated group of young women who are truly invested in the lives of their residents and the Barnard community. I learn so much from them that I will certainly take with me after my time here is done. |

Mark Blenner, 110th Street
My name is Mark and I am a Graduate Hall Director at 110th Street. The GHD position allows me to hire, train, supervisor and mentor my staff. Helping develop these intelligent and driven women into not only skilled RAs, but respected students leaders, and responsible global citizens is immensely gratifying. The exchange, however, isn't one-sided - there is so much I've learned from observing, listening and talking to my staff that has impacted me on both a personal and professional level. |

Cidna Valentin, 600s and Senior Experience
As the Graduate Hall Director for the Senior Experience Program, the most rewarding part of my job is working with a staff of bright, hard working, and sincere young women preparing for "life after Barnard." It's a pleasure to contribute to their personal and professional development. I've enjoyed helping them plan interesting, fun, and informative programs for seniors. I become more and more invested in their growth as I watch them apply the skills that they have acquired to their own work with residents. |

Julienne Doyle, 600s
I am Julienne Doyle, the 600s Graduate Hall Director. Since being in the 600s area, I have felt a greater sense of purpose. The community of the 600s is quite diverse, with students ranging from sophomores to seniors. I thoroughly enjoy helping my staff of RA’s plan programs for such a diverse population of students. I take pride in knowing that my position as a Graduate Hall Director has a positive impact on Barnard women. It is encouraging to work with a staff that promotes the growth and development of the Barnard Woman.
