If you are using a lab computer, SSH Secure Shell is already installed. Ask a Lab Consultant if you need help finding it.
Once you are logged on to the appropriate server through SSH Secure
Shell client, type web.setup and press enter at the $ prompt.

The web.setup command creates a folder called public_html with user-writable, world-readable permissions. This means that only you can edit the files inside the directory, but that anyone can see them.
See the official guide to publishing webpages at Columbia.
However, you should be able to follow all of the instructions on web publishing at Barnard just by substituting your Columbia uni and password for your Barnard username and password and by logging onto "cunix.columbia.edu" instead of "eclipse.barnard.edu".
