Registering for the Semester
Many students have problems registering at the beginning of the semester because they have a
pop-up blocker on their internet browser. This prevents eBear from opening the
registration window that allows you to officially register for the semester.
To allow eBear to open popup windows:
Mozilla Firefox for Windows Vista, Windows XP or Mac OS X
- Windows: Go to Tools, Options, Content
- OS X: Go to Firefox, Preferences, Content
- Click "Exceptions" on the right side of "Block Popup Windows" and type: snowbird.barnard.edu
in the field "Address of web site:" and click"Allow"
Internet Explorer for Windows Windows Vista and Windows XP
- Go to Tools, Internet Options, Privacy
- Click "Settings..." next to "Block pop-ups" and type: snowbird.barnard.edu in the field
labeled "Address of Web site to allow:" and click "Add"
Safari for Mac OS X
- Go to Safari, Preferences, Security
- Uncheck "Block pop-up windows" and when you leave eBear, go back to Safari,
Preferences, Security and check "Block pop-up windows"
Netscape 7.0 for Windows XP
- Go to Edit, Preferences, Privacy & Security, Popup Windows
- Click "Exceptions..." next to "Suppress Popups" and type: snowbird.barnard.edu in the field
labeled "Allow popups from the following sites" and click "Add"
Opera for Windows XP or Mac OS X
- Windows: Go to Tools, Preferences, General
- OS X: Go to Opera, Preferences, General
- Next to "Pop-ups" choose "Block unwanted pop-ups," and if you are still having problems,
choose "Open all pop-ups" while you are using eBear and go back to "Block unwanted pop-ups"
or "Block all pop-ups" when you are done.
Finally, if you have tried allowing popups from eBear and you still cannot register, try using a different web browser.
You can also use a computer in one of the labs which has
all recommended browsers installed.
