Switching to Half-Duplex

Sometimes your computer's ethernet speed conflicts with your network jack's speed. The following steps will allow you to resolve this problem.

Windows:

  1. Open the Control Panel > Network Connections.
  2. Right-click on the connection that is having problems (probably the LAN) and click Properties.
  3. There should be text that reads "Connect using:" and a box under that with the name of the ethernet card. Click on "Configure..." next to the name of the ethernet card.
  4. Under the Advanced tab, choose the "Link Speed & Duplex" Property. In the Drop-down menu, pick "10Mbps/Half Duplex" and click "Okay".
