New Students: Access Your Initial Login and Password
Welcome to Barnard College! These instructions tell you how to access your Barnard e-mail login.
Logins for the class of 2012 should be active by May 19, 2008. Incoming transfer/visiting students will be able to get their login/password about two
weeks after sending their reply card and deposit to Barnard. Barnard Resnet will be available to answer questions by phone starting
at 9am on Monday May 19th. If you are having problems accessing your
login, please follow the Troubleshooting Tips on this page. If your
problem is not resolved using these tips, contact us using one of the
methods at the bottom of the page.
You must have the following information with you to activate
your account:
- Your 7-digit Barnard System ID Number (which you received via email from Admissions).
- Your date of birth.
- Once you have this information handy, Access
Your Initial Login and Password.
- After entering the information, click on the SUBMIT button.
This page will be available for a limited time only, so check this page as soon as possible.
If you are successful, you will get your Barnard user name (e.g. ab1234) and your password. This user name and password
is for your Barnard email account (e.g. ab1234@barnard.edu) and access to our internal
web site called eBear. You can find out more about New Student information
on eBear at the Admissions eBear site.
You will still need to activate your Columbia UNI.
Your UNI (University Network ID) is the same as your Barnard user name. It is a unique identifier, consisting of your initials
plus an arbitrary number created using a university-wide formula. At this time, it is not possible to adjust these names.
Please note that your eBear password can differ from your Columbia UNI password.
Troubleshooting Tips:
- Make sure that you have entered the information correctly (e.g. Is the caps lock key on?).
- Make sure there are no punctuation marks in the System ID number or Date of Birth
- If you can't find your System ID, please contact the Dean of Studies office by phone at 212 854 2024, or send an email to
from the email account that you listed on your application.
We need to verify your identity. DO NOT
include your Social Security number, or any confidential
information in any email.
eBear Tips:
- If you are having problems logging onto eBear and keep
getting the 'Cannot Verify your Login' error message, try
copying and pasting your password from the Initial Login
page. Remember that passwords are caps sensitive and that
1, l, 0 and O can all look alike.
- Your eBear login does not have @barnard.edu at the end
of it, it is simply your initials and a series of numbers
(ie. ab1234).
- Change your password as soon as you have logged into eBear.
Keep in mind the
Good Password
tips. Click on the Email tab at the top of eBear, then Email Utilities.
Click on Change Email Password on the left hand side.
- Please note that your changing password request will be
run during weekdays and working hours only. It might take
one hour for your request to go effect.
- If you try to change your password and receive a 'Connection
Timed Out' error, your new password does not meet the password
requirements. Check the Good
Passwords page for help.
- If you are using any type of pop-up blocker or browser
search-bar add-in, you may need to disable it before eBear
will work. Google and Yahoo both have versions of these
products. You can disable the blocker for this site only.
If you still need assistance you can:
