computers? Enhance your computer skills and technical knowledge--BECOME an ACE!
Academic Computing Experts (ACEs), formerly called RCAs, are trained to configure
students' computers on the Barnard network, troubleshoot, and fix student computer
problems. ACEs provide software, hardware and network support for students in the labs and residence halls.
Students hired during the spring semester are required to attend Fall Training, the week before regular
move-in dates in late August.
The Ideal ACE Candidate
- Is able to provide knowledgeable computing support to the Barnard student community
- Works well independently and in group situations
- Uses all available resources
- Has good interpersonal skills
- Is timely, responsible, dedicated and eager to learn
- Shows initiative
- Has at least basic familiarity with computers and a willingness to learn during training

Job Requirements
- Training twice an academic year, a week prior to the beginning of each semester
- Approximately four evening shifts over the course of four weeks to accommodate
increased demand during the beginning of the fall semester
- 6 to 15 hours a week working in the lab
- Monthly staff meetings
- Weekly check-in meetings
- Ongoing computer support for students in Barnard housing
- General computer training workshops for students in Barnard housing

and one recommendation letter, so you should know your references before
filling out the application.
