María Eugenia holds an M.A. in Spanish Literature and Language teaching from Washington State University. She is currently a doctoral candidate in the program of Language, Literacy, and Culture at the University of Massachusetts.
She has taught Spanish and English for more than fourteen years in Colombia and in the United States.
Her areas of interest are Second Language Acquisition, First Language Maintenance, and Identity among Spanish Speaking Immigrants. Her research also centers on the use of Web 2.0 technologies in the classroom and its effects on acquisition in foreign language learners.
