Speaking Fellows sessions are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis.  All sessions are two hours in duration. Click here to schedule a session. Please click here for the location of your session.

Session One

Every student must take a “Session One.”  The sign-up period for Spring 2010 sessions is January 26, 2010 through February 23, 2010.

Session One: Fundamentals for First Years - Fundamentals session for first-year students only.  Required before participating in an advanced “Session Two.”

Session One: Fundamentals - Fundamentals session for sophomores, juniors, and seniors.  Required before participating in an advanced “Session Two.”

Session One: Fundamentals for Presenting in the Sciences - Fundamentals session designed specifically for students in the sciences.  Required before participating in an advanced “Session Two.”

Session Two

Your professor will let you know if he/she wants you to take an advanced “Session Two.”

Session Two: Practicing Content for First-Years- This session reviews the skills learned in Session One and allows students to practice the actual content they will be delivering in their presentations.

Session Two: Practicing Content - This session reviews the skills learned in Session One and allows students to practice the actual content they will be delivering in their presentations.

Session Two: Negotiating - Based on the principles of Getting to Yes (Roger Fisher and William L. Ury) and the Program on Negotiation at the Harvard Law School, this highly interactive session reviews the difference between positions and interests and takes students through several exercises and a mock negotiation in preparation for classroom negotiation simulations.

Session Two: Team Presentations: This session is designed for students who will be delivering their final presentation as a team.  Students will learn the best way to navigate between team members and the appropriate use of PowerPoint.

Session Two: Reacting: Specifically for students in Reacting to the Past courses, this session reviews the difference between inductive and deductive reasoning and offers additional presentation practice.

Session Two: Research: In this session, students work specifically on translating research into a spoken presentation.

Customized Session Twos are also offered.  In this case the label would read Session Two: (Name of Your Course).
