Weather Update

Due to the storm, Barnard College closed at 4pm Friday, for non-essential personnel. “Essential personnel" include staff in Facilities, Public Safety and Residence Halls.  

Friday evening and weekend classes are cancelled but events are going forward as planned unless otherwise noted. The Athena Film Festival programs are also scheduled to go forward as planned but please check http://athenafilmfestival.com/ for the latest information. 

The Barnard Library and Archives closed at 4pm Friday and will remain closed on Saturday, Feb. 9.  The Library will resume regular hours on Sunday opening at 10am.  

Please be advised that due to the conditions, certain entrances to campus may be closed.  The main gate at 117th Street & Broadway will remain open.  For further updates on college operations, please check this website, call the College Emergency Information Line 212-854-1002 or check AM radio station 1010WINS.

The Student Computing Center in the Diana

The Student Computing Center (SCC) in room 307 of the Diana houses the student computing support center. The computer lab is accessible during the same hours as the Diana with swipe access. If there are any problems accessing the lab with your CUID, visit Public Safety on the first floor of Barnard Hall. To see an ACE for computer assistance, please come by the SCC during ACE Office Hours. In the SCC, students have access to:

  • 28 Dell PCs, running Windows 7
  • 4 iMacs, running Snow Leopard
  • 3 NINJa printers
  • 2 scanning stations, one Dell and one Mac, both with DVD burning software.
  • 1 specialty printing station, a Dell computer that has JAWS, Dragon, Inspiration, and STATA 9.2 (statistical analysis program) installed.

Sulzberger & Brooks Labs

These two labs are located in the basement level of the Quad and are available to all residents.

Sulzberger houses:

  • 14 Dell PCs
  • 1 NINJa printer

Brooks houses:

  • 20 Dell PCs
  • 2 NINJa printers

Both labs are open 24 hours a day for residents when classes are in session and during exam periods.

If you find that a printer is out of paper, please notify an ACE by contacting the Student Computing Office at (212) 851-9100.

Plimpton Lab

Located on the first floor of the Plimpton Residence Hall at 120th St. and Amsterdam Ave, the Plimpton lab is available for use by all Barnard students and provides access to:

  • 6 Dell PCs
  • 2 NINJa printers

Open 24 hours a day for residents when classes are in session and during exam periods.

If you find that a printer is out of paper, please ask the building's desk attendant for more. If the desk attendant cannot help you for some reason, please notify an ACE by contacting the Student Computing Office at (212) 851-9100. Be careful when loading printer trays as they are fragile.

616 Lab

Located on the first floor of 616 Residence Hall at 616 W. 116th St. Users have access to:

  • 8 Dell PCs
  • 2 NINJa printers

Open 24 hours a day for residents when classes are in session and during exam periods.

If you find that a printer is out of paper, please ask the building's desk attendant for more. If the desk attendant cannot help you for some reason, please notify an ACE by contacting the Student Computing Office at (212) 851-9100. Be careful when loading printer trays as they are fragile.
