Joyce is originally from the Philadelphia area but has lived in New York City since 2007. She moved here to work in Student Life at Barnard! She specifically sought out to work at a women's college so naturally, she loves being a part of the Barnard community. As the Director of Orientation and Activities, her primary responsibilities focus on Fall and Spring NSOP, Senior Week, Senior Class Programming, McAC, and the Women's Leadership Retreat. During her free time she loves to bike around the city, play guitar, and go to the park with her dog.

She is currently attending graduate school for her Master's Degree in Higher and Postsecondary Education right across the street at Teachers College of Columbia University. Melissa is thrilled to be working at Barnard College as the Graduate Assistant for Orientation and Student Activities this year and is really passionate about fostering leadership in students on campus! She is looking forward to working with the New Student Orientation Program, Barnard Constellations and McAC. In her spare time, Melissa likes to cook, picnic in Central Park and discover new and exciting things to do in the city!
