Eligibility
The
Faculty has set the following guidelines for eligibility.
Students should:
-
have completed two years (or the
equivalent at the college level) of the language of the host
country, provided the language is offered at Barnard or
Columbia, regardless of the language of instruction; OR have
completed one year (or the equivalent at the college level)
of the language of the host country and enroll in a program
with a mandatory home stay or with an intensive language
program at the start of the semester. For students studying
the sciences or mathematics abroad, language requirements
vary slightly. When the language of the host country is not
offered at Barnard or Columbia, students should have some
knowledge of that language but it is not required.
-

requirements for the degree;
-
have no outstanding incompletes;
-
be in good academic standing;
-
have worked out, in consultation with the major and study
abroad advisers, a plan for the completion of all major and
college requirements for graduation.
