Want to get involved in Barnard - Columbia Undergraduate Theatre? Here's a number of ideas for you.
Come see a show
Come and see one of the many student productions at the Minor Latham Playhouse! Tickets are free or reduced admission for CU students, and you can get a taste for the kind of work we do.
Work on a Backstage Crew
Working on a crew for one of the theatre department productions is a great way to get to know the other students and faculty. It's also an invaluable way to grow more familiar with the theatre as a whole. If you're interested in working on a crew, contact Technical Director Greg Winkler.
Come Audition
Auditions are held on the first two days of each semester, and they
determine admission to acting classes and casting for shows. Don't have a
two-minute monologue ready? No problem, just pick up one of the sides at the
audition.
Take a Class
A number of our classes don't require an audition, so if you're feeling nervous about doing your monologue, come take a class in theatre history, dramatic
literature or design. It's a great way to meet other theatre students and
faculty members, while you learn more about the theatre.
Be an Usher
Want to see a show for free? We need ushers for all our productions. Ushers arrive 45 minutes before show time, and are required to wear dark colors (preferably black). There are sign-up sheets in the Theatre lobby, just outside the Minor Latham Playhouse (1st floor, Milbank Hall).
Be a Workstudy
The theatre department has a number of workstudy jobs available for those students on financial aid. Jobs include technical work in the theatre, as well as publicity, management, and other areas. Contact Production Manager
Michael Banta if you're interested.
