Research and Teaching Interests
Prof Kay is an Astronomer whose research includes the study
of Active Galactic Nuclei. She has taught courses on issues
of gender and science at Barnard for the past 15 years.
She was the PI of a grant `Women and Scientific
Literacy' which aimed to get scientists and women's studies
faculty to dialog about issues of women and science. In 2005
Prof. Kay was a member of the US delegation to the Second IUPAP
International Conference on Women in Physics, in Brazil.
She is guest editing a forthcoming issue of the webjournal
'The Scholar and the Feminist' on the topics of the International
Polar Year.
