The Women in Public Service Project Comes to Barnard

On Monday, September 24, Barnard College and the Women in Public Service Project hosted “A Global Conversation: Women Leaders Respond to the United Nations General Assembly” on Barnard’s campus in Manhattan. This event, held in conjunction with the United Nation’s 67th regular session of the General Assembly, featured women leaders from around the world, including President Atifete Jahjaga, Kosovo’s first female and youngest president; Former Finnish President Tarja Halonen; Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra of Thailand; and Melanne Verveer, United States Ambassador-at-Large for Global Women's Issues.

The event also convened a panel discussion on post-conflict and transitional justice among leaders from the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, the United Nations, and the United States Department of State, along with select students from women's colleges around the country.
