Upcoming Workshop:
Grammar for Writers:
A Workshop on the Syntax and Mechanics of English
Instructor: Madeleine George
*not for credit*

When is it “who” and when is it “whom”?

“Everyone handed in their homework” or “Everyone handed in her homework”?

What is a semicolon actually for?

If you’ve ever wondered about the answers to these questions —or thrown a term paper across the room trying to figure them out!— Grammar for Writers is the course for you.

In this class we will:
- cover the basics of parts of speech and sentence structure
- work with both student writing and published writing samples
- investigate one or two infamous grammar mysteries, and
- practice the rules of punctuation and presentation that all professional writers must follow.

Tuesdays, 12:00-1:00 PM
Barnard 202
This course runs for six sessions:
3/10, 3/24, 3/31,
4/14, 4/21, 4/28

Sponsored by the Writing Program, the Dean of the College, HEOP, Office of Disability Services, Office of Human Resources, Office of Multicultural Affairs, and Residence Life.
