Who We Are

The Barnard International Artist Series (BIAS) was founded by its principal curator, winner of the Pulitzer Prize Hisham Matar. BIAS involves students in the world of contemporary artists and thinkers and their work. Every year we invite artists — writers, filmmakers, dancers, dramatists, visual artists, architects, and composers — from all over the world to speak about their work.

All events are free and open to the public.

International Artist Fellowship

The Barnard International Artist Fellowship is an invitation-only, artist-in-residency. Each fall, the artist will give public lectures, classroom workshops, and produce a body of work by the end of the term. Our inaugural fellow for 2019 is Juan Gabriel Vásquez.
