Communications is dedicated to telling the many stories of Barnard students, faculty, and alumnae. We strive to spread the word and promote the College’s mission by highlighting Barnard’s strengths, raising its profile, facilitating strategic messaging, and guiding and supporting academic programs and campus events… all with an eye towards connecting our community with one another, with prospective students, and with the world outside our gates.
The editorial team presents news and features about academic programs, institutional initiatives, alumnae accomplishments, and campus events to students, faculty, and our alumnae across the globe through a range of media, and produces the award-winning Barnard Magazine.
Design and Production is responsible for Barnard’s visual identity and works throughout the College to conceptualize, design, produce, and aid in the production and distribution of Barnard’s printed communications.
Digital Communications manages the design, functionality, and multimedia content for the Barnard website, official social media channels, mobile applications, broadcast emails, and audio/visual production for digital platforms, and serves as a resource for consultation and best practices in each of these areas.
Media Relations works to raise the profile of the College by bringing student accomplishments, faculty experts, innovative pedagogy, and campus news and events to the attention of local, national, and international media outlets.
Marketing and Events plans and promotes public events at Barnard, working closely with academic departments and colleagues throughout the College to envision, coordinate, and maximize the impact of their events.
Strategic communications shapes the voice and messaging of the College for official communications on a broad range of issues, as well as in response to important campus and world events and student, faculty, and alumnae achievements—all to foster a better understanding of and support for the priorities of Barnard.
